INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR ROMELIA LUNGU

MY NAME IS ROMELIA LUNGU. I AM FROM ROMANIA, BUT I LIVE IN MALTA AT THE MOMENT.

1. SWA: DID YOU EVER CONSIDER WRITING UNDER A PSEUDONYM?

ROMELIA: I thought about it, but I don't have any name in my mind, and besides this, I want to make my family proud, so I prefer to keep my name.

2. SWA: DO YOU TRY MORE TO BE ORIGINAL OR TO DELIVER TO READERS WHAT THEY WANT?

ROMELIA: I am original, and I will always be even if nobody will buy my books.

3. SWA: DO YOU THINK SOMEONE COULD BE A WRITER IF THEY DON’T FEEL EMOTIONS STRONGLY?

ROMELIA: I don't think so. A writer needs to be a bit crazy and have millions of thoughts daily to write a book.

4. SWA: WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR IDEAS?

ROMELIA: To be honest, from my life. From all experiences of my life. Some of my books are more real than it seems, even if they are in the category of fiction.

5. SWA: WHAT IS YOUR WRITING PROCESS LIKE?

ROMELIA: I write every day, about ten hours daily. I am a full-time writer.

6. SWA: WHEN DID YOU FIRST REALIZE YOU WANTED TO BE A WRITER?

ROMELIA: Five years ago, when I had an odd experience, a love story where I was a mistress, but I published my first book on the 31st of January 2020.

7. SWA: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE A BOOK?

ROMELIA: A short story about two weeks, a novel about three months.

8. SWA: WHAT IS YOUR WORK SCHEDULE LIKE WHEN YOU'RE WRITING?

ROMELIA: Since I woke up until 10 pm, I have weeks when I write only at night.

9. SWA: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR INTERESTING WRITING QUIRK?

ROMELIA: I love to write horror genre. I love to kill some of my characters.

10. SWA: HOW DO YOU GET YOUR BOOKS PUBLISHED?

ROMELIA: Self-published

11. SWA: WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR INFORMATION OR IDEAS FOR YOUR BOOKS?

ROMELIA: From my brain. I hate to do research for my books, so I prefer to build a new world and unique stories.

12. SWA: WHEN DID YOU WRITE YOUR FIRST BOOK, AND HOW OLD WERE YOU?

ROMELIA: In 2015 but I wrote it in five notebooks. I was 30 at that time.

13. SWA: WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT WRITING?

ROMELIA: I love to play Solitare Grand Harvest. I started to play this game the same day I decided to become an author and publish my first book. I think this was in November 2019. Now I am level 6385. I play this game because it is relaxing for me, and my brain takes a small break. At night I watch movies on Netflix, horror movies especially.

14. SWA: WHAT DOES YOUR FAMILY THINK OF YOUR WRITING?

ROMELIA: I started to laugh after I wrote this question, I am still laughing anyway. Let's see... I think my father is proud of me somehow, but he doesn't like to tell me this, he bought all my books. My mother, she is neutral, but she is proud of me. My sister thinks I am obsessed with writing. She is telling me to go and find a job because writing is not for me, but she had never read a book of mine. Funny right? The rest of the family, I think, doesn't care or doesn't know as I don't speak with them. The only one who is supporting me in all the ways, especially financially, is my husband. He was the only one who pushed me to publish my books and the only one who believes in me even when I don't believe anymore, and I want to quit writing.

15. SWA: WHAT WAS ONE OF THE MOST SURPRISING THINGS YOU LEARNED IN CREATING YOUR BOOKS?

ROMELIA: When I write a book, I can express all the hate I have inside me.

16. SWA: HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU WRITTEN AND WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE?

ROMELIA: I finished and published six books. My favorite is Insomnia.

17. SWA: DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS TO HELP ME BECOME A BETTER WRITER? IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY?

ROMELIA: I also need to learn many things, so I am not sure what advice to give you. I can say for sure that you have to write every day even if what you are writing on some days doesn't make any sense, one will do.

18. SWA: DO YOU HEAR FROM YOUR READERS MUCH? WHAT KINDS OF THINGS DO THEY SAY?

ROMELIA: Just in the past two months, people started to buy my books or read them. The very few reviews I have are amazing. Their words give me the power to continue writing.

19. SWA: DO YOU LIKE TO CREATE BOOKS FOR ADULTS?

ROMELIA: Yes.

20. SWA: WHAT DO YOU THINK MAKES A GOOD STORY?

ROMELIA: An original and creative idea. I've seen everywhere authors writing about vampires, wolves, and millionaire's love story. Amazon is full of these stories.

21. SWA: AS A CHILD, WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU GREW UP?

ROMELIA: The first idea was to become a shrink and the second a private detective, but the most thing I wanted to do it was to become a potent witch to destroy the bad people. I was always imagining what kind o spells I was doing and how much I will torment the bad people.

22. SWA: IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO TELL US ABOUT UPCOMING PROJECTS THAT EXCITE YOU?

ROMELIA: I want to write a horror Christmas story, and I have a lot of books to finish. I am also planning to do a European Book Tour, but it seems to be difficult to fulfill this dream because of the restrictions of covid.

23. SWA:  WHAT ARE THE LINKS YOUR BOOK OR WORK CAN BE REACHED?
