The Plight of many Nigeria Boys
Emeka, is a hardworking young guy who is successful in his provision shop. So to say, he is 23 years of age and has fallen in Love with Blessing who just finished her WAEC. Emeka didn't go to the university because it wasn’t easy for his family to train him, hence, he went into business and God blessed him from there. Emeka indicated interest that he wants to marry Blessing, the family and Blessing consented to that but told him that she must first of all, go to university. Emeka, loving Blessing so much, agreed to train her so that after university, they can get married.
Emeka bought JAMB for her; she took and got admission into University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to study Law. One could imagine how much someone who is studying law in the Nigeria University must be paying, together with the text books and handout she must have purchased; Emeka carried the whole load with the hope that he is training his future wife.
After graduation, Emeka bought a form for her to go to Law school in Abuja, after which she was called to the bar; she became a practicing lawyer in Nigeria. It is this time, that blessing saw that Emeka is not of her class. She thought of how to relate that to him, by first of all, avoiding his calls and always giving excuses on different occasions. Emeka wanted her to spend time together with her. Emeka sensed that something was wrong since she was called to the bar, immediately went to Blessing’s parents to complain, unknowing to him that they had conspired against him.
He was denied entrance to the house. It was two weeks after the rejection at Blessing’s family house that she visited him where he is living at Onitsha, doing his business. He was very happy to see her, embraced her, and immediately told her to go home. The news of Blessing’s wedding with a Barrister from Owerri, was related to him by Blessing, he fainted and died upon hearing it.
