On sunday, after the conclusion of the Regina Coeli, Pope Francis announces that he will create 21 new Cardinals at a Consistory on Saturday, 27 August for which Bishop Peter Okpaleke of Ekwulobia Diocese, Nigeria is among. This is indeed a fulfilment of the scriptural assertion that the stone which the builder's rejected shall become the cornerstone. Recall, Okpaleke, was a one time bishop of Ahiara dioceses that was rejected by them.

Ahiara diocese, of Mbaise, Imo state, after the death of the pioneer bishop, Victor Chikwe, a Rt. Rev., and the rejection of Mr. Okpalaeke, who was appointed and consecrated in 2012, has remained for up to five years without a bishop. Currently, Peter Okpaleke, is the bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese. Peter was born on March 1, 1963, with his twin brother in the family of late, Reuben Ezeuko Okpaleke and Bridget Ekejimma Okpaleke.

Peter has his early education at Oganiru Primary School Uga from 1971 to 1976 when he entered Uga Boys’ Secondary School, Uga, for his secondary education from 1976 to 1981 and was given admission into St. John Bosco Seminary Isuaniocha. His senior Seminary formation was at Bigard Memorial Seminary, now St. Joseph’s Major Seminary Ikot-Ekpene (1983-1987), Bigard Memorial Seminary Enugu (1988-1992), Catholic Institute of West Africa (CIWA), Port Harcourt (1995-1997), Pontificia Universita Della Santa Croce, Rome, Italy, (1999-2002) where he obtained a doctorate degree in Canon Law in First Class Honours. He also has a diploma in Ecclesiastical Administration. This is an example of Luke's decree that the Lord lift up the lowly and raised them on high but the proud, he takes them to hades and lead them to dark
